Massif, also known as Ⅰ or Level 1, is the first level in the game. This level was part of the initial release of Rolling Sky on January 20, 2016. Despite Cloud being the first level in the arrangement order, this level is considered Level 1 since it was released first. It is a parallel level to Illusion, though some sources consider it as a bonus level of this level. The main theme of this level is Mountains.
History[]
- This was the easiest and shortest level before January 13, 2018. After that, the tutorial was replaced by Cloud.
- This is the first level in the game, and the other four levels also released in the initial release of 1.0.0 on January 20, 2016.
- Before the update of Cloud, the music in the main page of Rolling Sky and in all levels was this level's soundtrack.
- In the release of Illusion, players needed to score 70% or higher on this level to unlock the bonus level: Illusion. However, it is no longer necessary now.
- In the release, this level was not given a name, just named "I". In the release of 8Bits, this level was named "Massif." As this is a classic level that uses common obstacles and themes, the name cannot represent levels 1-10 compared to the levels after Deep Space.
- The pod of this level was removed due to issues with song sync.
- Because of the arrangement of 1-star levels, this level is after Tropical Tides.
Edits[]
This is one of the three levels edited to make it easier. The others are Illusion and Forest/Old. The video below is an older version.
- At 0-3%, middle risers were removed.
- At 7%, the risers were arranged differently, and more jump pads were added to make passing easier.
- At 10-12%, some of the risers were removed and tiles were added to make this part easier.
- At 15-17%, the glass in the middle (both) was changed to small glass so that players can just go forward, like the edit in Illusion that allows players to go forward at 14% because of the wheels that changed.
- At 18%, the middle large glass was replaced with small glasses to make passing easier.
- At 31-34%, some air crushers were removed to make it less confusing for new players.
- At 45%, the right and left small tree was removed so that players can obtain the diamond easier.
- At 58%, a small tree was removed because many players failed at that point.

Trivia[]
- This is one of the three levels featured in the original trailer, the others being Forest/Old and Desert.
- This level has the earliest diamond, at just 1%, and the second, at 3%.
- This is the only level to not use any Movers.
- This level has only one laser, at 62%.
- This is the first level used in Weekly Match.
- Coincidentally, it's the very first level in the game.
- This is the only main level to be rated 1-star.
- Cloud does not count because it is the tutorial level.
- The soundtrack of this level is longer than the level itself.
- Sky, Forest/Old, Forest, Desert, Illusion, Hoop Dream and Sunny also fall under this fact.
- Simple mode (slow speed) was introduced in the 2018 Christmas update, in which it was later reverted back to the initial mode.
- This is the 4th shortest level with it lasting 68 seconds.
- This is the easiest level to have a forced diamond, being at 91%.
- Coincidence or not, the first 3 themes are the main themes for the 3 first levels in the release of Rolling Sky. Those are:
- This level's name (Massif) comes from French, which means "Massive," and it's used to refer to large mountains.
- Because Massif isn’t originally English, the in-game translations of it translate back to either “Hill” or “Mountain.”
- Ironically, this level is called “Coteau” in the French version of the game. It used to be written without capitalization (like “coteau”) but was fixed in Goblin Town’s release, along with Sky-City, Tetris and Fairy Tale. The only outlier is Illusion, even after Venus’s/Competition Park’s update.
New Obstacles[]

- Riser
- Air Crusher
- Small Hammer
- Large Hammer
